The club maintains a fleet of singles, doubles and fours and eights at our boathouse at beautiful Santa Margarita Lake. After years of fundraising, the club installed a new polyethylene dock in 2019. From May to September, the club offers beginning rowing classes.
“Rowing is a fun, low-impact sport for all ages that anyone can learn to do,” Club training director Bob Eldridge said. Eldridge adds, "There is just no nicer place to row than Santa Margarita Lake.”

Our club started many years ago by Ted English, who had a vision to bring the sport of rowing to SLO County. Under his guidance and leadership, his dream became a reality in 2003. Do to his passion and in recognition for founding our club,The Ted English Boathouse was named in his honor. Sadly, in May 2020, Ted took his final row and died at age 91. His impact on the club will always be felt. The boathouse is located at Santa Margarita Lake. The lake is quite a hidden gem, located northeast of San Luis Obispo.
Our Club has grown to a fleet of recreational and racing 1X, 2X, 4X and 4+ and 8+ shells. We are lucky enough to row 12 months of the year on the Lake and in Morro Bay. Come join us on the water. The SLO Rowing Club is a 501(C)(3) non-profit corporation.
